Anderson County Board of Education approves controversial handbook - KFVS12 News & Weather Cape Girardeau, Carbondale, Poplar Bluff

Anderson County Board of Education officially adopted the official 2018-2019 handbook on Monday, August 28.

The handbook includes guidelines and training for school resource officers. The handbook also has a section addressing the personal information students share on social media.

Director of Schools Tommy King said he worked with former Spartan coach Dean Smith to ensure all of the sections is consistent with school policy and with the Student Code of Conduct.

"I thought it was important to have a handbook that is consistent with the school's written policies," King said. "In order for us to have a fair learning environment in the schools, we have to make sure that we are consistent with everything that we do. I'm pleased with the handbook that we came up with. It is well thought out, and it is in line with everything we believe in."
